India is poised to achieve a historic wheat production high, with estimates projecting a 2% increase to 1,154.30 lakh tonnes in the 2024-25 rabi season. The Agriculture Ministry's Second Advance Estimates, released Monday, highlight this significant growth which is primarily due to a rise in wheat acreage.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Union Agriculture Minister, attributed this agricultural success to the government's efforts and farmer-centric schemes aimed at enhancing production. Alongside wheat, the report also forecasts a substantial increase in various other crops including rice, nutri/coarse cereals, oilseeds, and cotton.

The kharif and rabi projections reveal increases across commodities. Notably, rice production is set to rise significantly, with similar upward trends in soyabean and groundnut yields. Such advancements underscore concerted efforts to boost India's agricultural output.
