Manipur's Weapons Surrender Marks Security Progress Amid Border Talks

In a significant development, the residents of Manipur have begun surrendering illegally held weapons. This comes after an appeal by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and joint public awareness initiatives by the District Police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF. On Tuesday alone, 87 weapons were surrendered across districts including Churachandpur, Imphal East, and Bishnupur.

In parallel, security forces intensified search operations in vulnerable hill and valley areas. A noteworthy operation in H. Monjang village led to the discovery of several dangerous items, including two improvised pompies and explosive devices weighing approximately 5.5 kg. These were safely destroyed by authorities.

Further solidifying security efforts, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations, visited Manipur. His agenda included reviewing border infrastructure and discussing operational strategies in meetings with key state officials. Emphasizing a comprehensive government approach, Ghai's visit underscored collaborative efforts aimed at bolstering Manipur's security framework.
