Traffic Measures Heightened at Maha Kumbh Amid Surging Devotee Influx

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued orders to manage traffic at the Maha Kumbh, mandating accountability for officers. As millions of devotees visit sacred sites, authorities utilize resources to prevent congestion. Officials from Tripura and Chhattisgarh participated, lauding the arrangements while praying for their states' welfare.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has implemented stringent measures to manage traffic congestion during the Maha Kumbh, placing accountability on officers. The Chief Minister's Office urged senior officials to actively monitor and prevent traffic jams in Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and nearby districts, ensuring smooth pilgrim flow.

As devotees flock to Varanasi for darshan at Kashi Vishwanath temple and take holy dips at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, local authorities face challenges in controlling the large crowds. District Magistrate S Rajalingam reported employing various resources, including barricading and online schooling up to eighth grade, to manage the situation effectively.

Amid the festivities, more than 491.4 million devotees have participated in the Maha Kumbh Mela since 2025, with a single day's footfall reaching 8.54 million. Key political figures like Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai joined the pilgrims, commending the event's organization while seeking blessings for their states.
