Engineers India Ltd, a state-owned engineering consultancy and project management firm, is charting a strategic course into nuclear energy projects, diversifying from its core hydrocarbon sector. The move was disclosed by EIL's chairperson, Vartika Shukla, during the India Energy Week event.
EIL aims to engage in the development of conventional nuclear projects and innovative small modular reactors, a sector recognized for its complexity and existing engagements like the Kudankulam nuclear plant. The company targets growth in international markets, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, where it has secured promising orders with major entities such as Saudi Aramco and Adnoc.
EIL is also advancing its ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by evaluating renewable energy projects and pursuing investments in energy-focused technology startups. This diversifying strategy includes considerable projects like the massive LPG storage facility for HPCL in Karnataka and feasibility studies for oil storage facilities in Rajasthan.
