An injured leopard, caught in a snare, was discovered on private property in Kakkayangad, located in the Muzhakkunnu panchayat of Kannur, Kerala, on the morning of January 6, 2025. The animal was found at around 8:30 a.m. on the estate of B.K. Prakashan, drawing a large crowd to the scene.
In swift response, local police and forest officials arrived to secure the location and ensure public safety. To manage the situation and prevent further disturbances, authorities swiftly cordoned off the area, controlling the unexpected influx of curious onlookers.
As a preventive measure, Kannur District Collector Arun K. Vijayan issued prohibitory orders under BNSS Section 13, restricting public gatherings within Muzhakkunnu panchayat from 10 a.m. on January 6 to 5 p.m. on January 7. He emphasized that disciplinary actions would be enforced against any breaches of this order, underscoring the importance of compliance for public safety.
