On Monday, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit harshly criticized BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri for his recent offensive comments directed at Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. Dikshit emphasized that a simple apology was insufficient and insisted on formal action against Bidhuri, pointing to his history of making similar remarks.
Bidhuri, who is contesting against CM Atishi from Kalkaji in the approaching Delhi Assembly polls, ignited controversy by commenting on Atishi's surname and family, stating that she had changed her father's name. Dikshit questioned BJP's choice in selecting a candidate like Bidhuri, known for employing inappropriate language frequently.
The incident has intensified the political rivalry between Congress, AAP, and BJP as Delhi prepares for its 2025 assembly elections. Dikshit lamented the declining standards of political discourse and urged politicians to avoid lowering political standards, citing that such actions can have unfavorable outcomes in the long run.
