Bharatiya Janata Party Members of Parliament from Delhi convened with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, on Thursday to urge swift implementation of significant developmental initiatives targeting an uplift in the living standards of residents in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

Following the meeting, BJP leadership organized a press conference with the attendance of Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra and several MPs including Manoj Tiwari, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Yogendra Chandolia, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Praveen Khandelwal alongside key party figures like Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice Chairman of NDMC, and Media Head, Praveen Shankar Kapoor.

Focal points included the demand for a world-class stadium and an educational hub in Narela, as highlighted by BJP leader Yogendra Chandolia. Union Minister Harsh Malhotra noted additional requests for enhancements in metro connectivity, which were paramount in their discussions.

Emphasizing urban housing improvements, Kamaljeet Sehrawat pressed for an accelerated pace in projects under the 'In-situ Housing Scheme' aimed at bettering the lives of slum residents in Delhi, a sentiment echoed by Ramvir Singh Bidhuri. The integration of more slum areas into the housing scheme was deemed vital for elevated living standards.

Deliberations also encompassed strategic approaches to decongest Delhi and combat pollution levels. BJP's Manoj Tiwari articulated their proposal for extending metro routes, specifically connecting Central Vista, the Delhi Airport, Dwarka, and Gurugram. Proposals also suggested linking Delhi Airport to Terminal-1 and stretching the Tughlakabad metro line to Kalindi Kunj and Jaitpur.

The BJP representatives asserted that these governmental development projects stand to reinvent Delhi as a global city, significantly upgrading the area's livability. Presented as a prelude to the 2025 Delhi assembly elections, their push comes amidst AAP's overwhelming 2020 victory and Congress's declining influence.
