As the Maha Kumbh Mela approaches, Indian Railways is gearing up for a massive undertaking to accommodate an estimated 40 crore visitors. With extensive planning and infrastructure enhancements, the railway network aims to manage the influx of pilgrims effectively.

Dilip Kumar, the Executive Director of Information and Publicity for the Railway Board, announced that approximately 13,000 trains are scheduled to operate during the Kumbh Mela. This initiative is part of a larger effort to ensure smooth and safe transportation for the millions of devotees making the journey.

Key improvements are being made at railway stations near major Kumbh Mela venues to enhance passenger facilities. Furthermore, the boost in ticketing services, especially the push for digital ticketing, represents a significant advancement in traveler convenience and security.

Additional measures include the deployment of the Railway Police Force and Government Railway Police to safeguard passengers. Railway officials will also open ticket counters within the Kumbh Mela area to improve ticket access points.

In a critical development, Indian Railways announced a new rail division in Jammu. Initially covering 721 kilometers, including the Jammu to Srinagar-Budgam section, this development marks a significant enhancement in Jammu and Kashmir's railway network.

The introduction of the Jammu rail division, previously part of the Ferozepur division, underscores Indian Railways' commitment to improving infrastructure and connectivity within the region.
