In a tragic incident on Wednesday, two five-year-old boys, Taimur and his cousin Arsh, drowned in a pond in Devkalia village while attempting to catch a duck. Police stated that the accident occurred when the children slipped and fell into the water, unseen by any adults.
According to eyewitness accounts, villagers returning from the fields discovered the boys in the pond and immediately informed the police. Rescue efforts led by the police, with assistance from local villagers, sadly came too late as the children were declared dead upon arrival at Biswa Community Health Center.
The authorities have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident, including post-mortem examinations. The heart-wrenching episode underscores the importance of adult supervision near water bodies to prevent such accidents.
