Uttarakhand CM Pushes for Seamless Festive Traffic Amid Cold Wave

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed officials to streamline traffic management and emphasize security as tourists flood the state for New Year's festivities. At a high-level meeting, Dhami stressed that visitors should face no inconveniences, advocating for increased police presence if necessary.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of responsive healthcare facilities, instructing hospitals to remain on high alert for any incidents. He also demanded strict enforcement of traffic rules, particularly during the cold wave that grips the region.

During the review of departmental actions combating the cold wave, Dhami insisted on thorough inspections of rain shelters by senior officials. He emphasized the availability of blankets and essentials for the needy, while ensuring the public is informed about the locations of bonfire arrangements for warmth during the cold nights.

Dhami further mandated that roads should remain unobstructed, even in heavy snowfall. The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority issued guidelines to address avalanche risks, following significant snowfall in high-altitude areas.

Despite harsh conditions, the district administration has successfully maintained open roads in key areas, with advisories for travelers to use 4X4 vehicles and anti-skid chains. Popular tourist destinations like Gangotri and Yamunotri are among those witnessing substantial snow accumulation.
