In a strategic overhaul aimed at expediting the land conversion process, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has decentralized the approval system for land use changes across the state. This measure affects the transition from agricultural to non-agricultural status and vice versa, impacting bona fide purchasers whose land valuations exceed Rs 50 lakh.
Aligning with the principle of 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance,' this policy shift revises authority delegation concerning land valuation premium levies. As per the March 17, 2017, Revenue Department resolution, district collectors are now empowered to approve premiums on land valuations up to Rs 5 crore, streamlining the previously centralized process.
Simultaneously, Patel has sanctioned a budget of Rs 253.94 crore under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana to improve urban infrastructure. Launched during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure, this initiative aims to address urbanization challenges, a crucial element of Gujarat's continued development strategy.
