In an unprecedented development, the Indian Navy has entrusted sibling commanders, Prerna and Ishan Deosthalee, with simultaneous command of separate warships, marking a historic first for the force. Commander Prerna Deosthalee, the first woman to command a warship, currently leads the fast attack craft INS Trinkat.

Meanwhile, her brother, Commander Ishan Deosthalee, has assumed leadership of the INS Vibhuti, a Veer-class missile vessel. INS Vibhuti recently participated in the steam past ceremony for President Draupadi Murmu along the coast of Goa in the Arabian Sea, highlighting their joint contributions under the Navy's Western Command.

President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, visited INS Vikrant on November 7. During her visit, she commended the Indian Navy for its operational prowess and strategic impact. Highlighting their global influence, she recounted a Bulgarian president's gratitude for rescuing sailors from a hijacked ship earlier this year.
