India has made significant strides in its journey toward energy sustainability, with renewable energy now accounting for over 46% of the nation's total installed power capacity of 452.69 gigawatts, according to an official statement.

Recent figures released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy indicate that the country's renewable energy capacity has surpassed the 200 GW threshold, specifically reaching 203.18 GW by October 2024. This marks a substantial increase of 24.2 GW, or 13.5%, in just one year.

Breaking down the 203 GW, solar energy leads with 92.12 GW, followed by wind at 47.72 GW, while large and small hydro projects contribute 46.93 GW and 5.07 GW respectively. Biopower, encompassing biomass and biogas, further enhances the renewable mix with an additional 11.32 GW.
