The Inter-State Council Secretariat has unveiled a restructured composition for its Standing Committee, designating Union Home Minister Amit Shah as its Chairman. The restructuring, approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, supersedes the previous order issued in May 2022.
This updated structure aims to streamline inter-state coordination by involving a 12-member panel. The panel includes Union Ministers like Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, and others, alongside Chief Ministers from states such as Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The Standing Committee will address Centre-State relations, ensure the implementation of Council decisions, and consider other referred matters. Experts may be invited for consultations on specific issues as needed.
