As the Maharashtra Assembly elections loom, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition has unveiled its electoral manifesto, promising significant reforms and welfare schemes in its bid for power. Spearheaded by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, the manifesto outlines 'five guarantees' focusing on socio-economic upliftment and equity.
Comprising Congress, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (SCP), the MVA's declaration emphasizes a caste-based census and aims to revoke the 50% reservation cap. Notable figures like NCP leader Supriya Sule and others attended the manifesto launch in Mumbai, underscoring the coalition's concerted effort in these elections.
The MVA's key initiatives include the Mahalaxmi scheme, which promises Rs 3000 monthly to women, and free bus travel within the state. In a bid to bolster rural growth, farm loans will be waived, and a Rs 25 lakh health cover pledged for farmers. Kharge expressed confidence in their approach, asserting that these measures would benefit Maharashtra's populace broadly.
