Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated an 'EV Rally' on Sunday as part of the CESL's 'EV as a Service' initiative, marking a significant step towards tackling the rampant pollution in the national capital. The rally aims to promote electric vehicles as a sustainable transportation alternative.
During the event, Khattar emphasized the urgent need for such eco-friendly measures, particularly in heavily polluted cities like Delhi, and stressed the importance of the initiative for government vehicles in the initial phase. His remarks highlighted a strategic effort to reduce pollution levels in the city.
The Minister's participation, which included riding a bicycle and a tractor, underscored the government's dedication to reducing carbon emissions. Industrial activities, construction, and transportation have significantly increased carbon dioxide levels, exacerbating Delhi's pollution crisis. The city recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 335, indicating 'very poor' conditions, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
