The Chilika Shelduck International Folk Festival 2024 has kicked off in Khordha district, Odisha, unfolding a vibrant ode to the region's rich traditions and cultural legacy. Hosted at the Purvasha Folk and Tribal Art Museum, this five-day cultural event is scheduled to run until November 13.
In a statement to ANI, Odisha's Minister Prithviraj Harichandan articulated the pride associated with the festival, emphasizing the state's commitment to highlighting its cultural treasures to a global audience. Meanwhile, PK Das, the Founder of the Odiart Centre, expressed excitement over performances by Vietnamese and Korean troops in collaboration with Indian artistes, centered around percussion instruments.
Organized by the Society for Development of Rural Literature and endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, the festival pays homage to Asia's diverse cultural legacy. Set against the scenic backdrop of Chilika Lake, it gathers artists and tourists for a fusion of traditional and modern cultural exchanges, crowned by the theme 'Rhythms of Asia: A Fusion of Beats.'
