Dalit women staged a protest outside a temple in Odisha's Kendrapara district on Saturday, alleging they were prevented from performing a milk-offering ritual during the holy month of Kartik.
The accused temple priests and upper caste members allegedly barred the women at the Siddheswari Ramachandi Shakthi shrine in Garajanga village. A complaint was lodged with the Marshaghai police.
Authorities, aiming for a peaceful resolution, have begun discussions with both communities. Police remain vigilant in the area to ensure no disturbances occur, as the situation appears to be under control, stated Inspector Purna Chandra Pattayat.
