The Border Security Force (BSF) achieved a significant victory on Friday by intercepting two drones and recovering a packet of suspected heroin in three separate locations near the Amritsar district border. Acting on intelligence, BSF troops thwarted an attempted cross-border drone smuggling operation.

An official statement details that a packet, suspected to contain heroin and weighing 570 grams, was discovered late on October 31 in a harvested paddy field adjacent to Amritsar's village Pulmoran. The narcotics were found wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with a steel ring and illuminating strip attached to the package.

The first drone, identified as a DJI Mavic 3 Classic, was retrieved just past midnight in a farming field near Pulmoran, while a second identical drone was located at 8:45 am in a field near the village of Dhanoe Kalan within the same district. The BSF's quick response, coupled with reliable intelligence, has been critical in blocking these smuggling attempts via aerial routes across the border.

Just days prior, on October 29, BSF personnel apprehended three narcotics smugglers along with a packet of heroin and two smartphones near the Amritsar border. These apprehended individuals, all from Amritsar's border villages, have been handed over to police for further investigation relating to their potential connections to Pakistan-based drug networks. This successful interception underscores BSF's unwavering commitment to territorial security and combating illegal activities.

Furthermore, on October 28, based on specific intelligence regarding a possible narco-drone, BSF troops recovered another drone and 480 grams of heroin concealed in a plastic bottle from a farm near Roranwala Khurd. This drone was also identified as a China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic, highlighting the persistent use of such equipment in cross-border smuggling. (ANI)
