Amidst the vibrant Diwali celebrations, a growing concern over pollution caused by firecrackers has sparked debate. The festival's traditional practices, including the use of oil in diyas, have faced scrutiny, with calls for the oil to assist the poor. However, Pandit Dhiren Krishna Shastri has strongly defended these customs.

Shastri lashed out at critics who question the environmental impact of Hindu festivals, pointing out the widespread use of firecrackers during New Year. According to him, these practices go unchallenged, highlighting a perceived double standard. Shastri argues such comments are hypocritical, insisting that Hindu festivals should not be singularly targeted.

In Ayodhya, the Deepotsav will see monumental celebrations, with 28 lakh diyas set to illuminate the banks of the Saryu River, marking the first event following the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Mandir. The festival's grandeur will also feature Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, as Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh confirms efforts to enhance the festival's divine appeal.
