Gujarat's Urban Transformation: Bhupendra Patel Approves Rs 1664 Crore for Development
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved significant funding aimed at enhancing urban living in Gujarat. Under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, Rs 1664 crore will be allocated for 502 development projects across key cities. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has embarked on an ambitious vision to improve the quality of urban living in Gujarat, emphasizing infrastructure development as a core component. Aiming to enhance the Ease of Living, Patel's administration has approved an in-principle allocation of Rs 1664 crore for 502 development projects in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Gandhinagar.
The Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, initially launched by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi in 2010, continues its mission to stimulate planned urban growth. The scheme supports various infrastructure projects, including road construction and sewerage systems, focusing on alleviating urban congestion and establishing unique city identities.
Among the notable approvals, Rs 380 crore is earmarked for building six flyover bridges in Surat to ease vehicular congestion, while Rs 316 crore is dedicated to 46 development projects in Ahmedabad's outskirts. Additional approvals include Rs 68.04 crore for Vadodara and Rs 144.43 crore for Gandhinagar infrastructure initiatives, supporting urban beautification and social infrastructure enhancement.
