In a sharp critique aimed at the Congress party, BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan accused them of systematically downplaying the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel over the years. Kesavan praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rectifying these alleged historical oversights by honoring Patel's legacy.
The comments came in the run-up to Sardar Patel's birth anniversary, celebrated as National Unity Day since 2014, a tradition started by Modi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, at a Unity Run event in Delhi, lamented Congress's neglect of Patel and credited Modi for commemorating Patel's impact by erecting the world's tallest statue in Gujarat.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel marked the occasion by flagging off a 'Run for Unity' in Ahmedabad. He underscored the importance of national unity, integrity, and security, recalling Patel's role in unifying India. The celebration, initiated under Modi's leadership, aims to recognize Patel's visionary efforts to create a united India.
