Kangra's Solar Village Initiative: A Step Towards Green Energy
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa announced plans for establishing a model solar village as part of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. This initiative aims to promote sustainable energy by selecting a village that will receive Rs 1 crore for green energy projects. The government offers significant subsidies for rooftop solar systems.
Kangra is poised to lead in sustainable energy with the launch of a model solar village, highlighted by Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa on Tuesday. This endeavor is part of the broader Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, aiming to set a benchmark in green energy.
Bairwa emphasized the importance of selecting a village that actively participates in non-conventional energy practices, with a population exceeding 2,000. An allocation of Rs 1 crore will support the village's transformation into a renewable energy hub as lists circulate across district circles for final selection.
Upon selection, a dedicated agency will develop a detailed project report, ensuring the village's solar energy integration. The scheme offers significant subsidies for rooftop solar systems, encouraging households to participate through the PM Surya Ghar online portal to ease adoption of sustainable practices.
