In a spirited tribute to one of India's founding figures, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Open Run for Unity Cross Country race at Pavilion Ground in Dehradun. The event, held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, served as a reminder of Patel's unwavering commitment to national unity.
Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the significance of the 'Run for Unity', which each year marks Patel's birth anniversary. This year, however, the event was rescheduled to October 29 following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement on 'Mann Ki Baat', due to its overlap with the Diwali festival on October 31.
Dhami lauded Patel's instrumental role in realizing the dream of a unified India. Through his foresight and perseverance, Patel integrated over 560 princely states, laying the foundation of a strong and united nation. His diplomacy as India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister made significant contributions to the country's independence and unity.
Reflecting on Patel's legacy, the Chief Minister emphasized that every Indian owes a debt of gratitude to the 'Iron Man' for his pivotal role in shaping modern India. The Run for Unity aims to instill the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' among citizens, underlining the belief that unity transcends mere ideology—it is a national imperative.
