A devastating fireworks accident at the Veerarkavu Temple in Kerala's Kasargod has left 154 people injured, with eight individuals requiring hospitalization. The incident occurred during the traditional Kaliyattam festival, a significant event in the Theyyam festivities celebrated by the North Malabar community.

Criticism has mounted against the government for its perceived negligence. Speaking to ANI, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, highlighting the government's failure to prevent such accidents despite knowing the potential risks. He extended his prayers for the victims' swift recovery.

Kasaragod MP Rajmohan Unnithan described the situation as shocking, underscoring the lack of police vigilance during the festival. A case has been filed against eight temple committee members for conducting unauthorized fireworks, adding legal consequences to the tragedy.
