In a significant move to tackle escalating air pollution, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced on Friday that the government will deploy drones to monitor pollution hotspots across the city. This effort is part of a comprehensive strategy to address environmental concerns, with the government working relentlessly to mitigate the issue.

Minister Rai visited the Wazirpur industrial area, identified as one of Delhi's 13 major pollution hotspots. He explained the initiative while speaking to mediapersons, emphasizing the need to monitor these areas through drones to gather data on pollution sources. The drones, piloted by a panel agency, will capture images within a 200-meter radius to facilitate analysis and reporting.

The collected data will be analyzed to identify pollutants and formulate precise action plans. As the city struggles with poor air quality, the initiative comes in the wake of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud's expressed concerns about pollution, and Delhi LG VK Saxena's call for deploying Civil Defence Volunteers to assist in pollution abatement efforts.
