NDA candidate for the Channapatna Assembly, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, formally filed his nomination on Friday for the upcoming state polls. Before the official proceedings, Kumaraswamy sought divine blessings at the Thirumalagiri Shri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Bengaluru, marking the start of his electoral journey.
Accompanied by his wife Revathi, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, and his grandfather, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Nikhil expressed enthusiasm about his electoral debut, stating, "Today is a very big day for us. I'm thrilled to have this opportunity." The party aims to secure a decisive victory, with HD Kumaraswamy highlighting the unified efforts of their workers.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy, also JD(S) State Youth Unit President, faces CP Yogeshwara of Congress in the by-poll. This seat, historically significant for the Kumaraswamy family, became vacant after HD Kumaraswamy's win in the Lok Sabha elections. Former Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa, introducing Nikhil as the NDA candidate, declared the party's confidence in winning across constituencies in the November polls.
