In a significant ruling, the Uttarakhand High Court has issued contempt notices to Dr. Vivek Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training in the Government of India. This action follows a petition by Sanjiv Chaturvedi, an Uttarakhand Cadre Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, regarding non-compliance with court orders.

The controversy stems from a September 3rd ruling where the court ordered the Central Government to produce records related to Chaturvedi's empanelment at the Joint Secretary level. Despite multiple reminders, the government failed to comply, prompting Justice Alok Verma to issue notices on October 23rd. A subsequent hearing is scheduled for December 19th.

Chaturvedi, known for his 'Outstanding' performance and previous accolades, claims relentless persecution for his integrity and honest work. This is not the first time contempt proceedings have involved government figures in his favor. Similar cases remain pending with senior officials from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, CBI, and previous contempt against Justice L. Narasimha Reddy.
