The Congress party is set to hold a crucial meeting at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters for selecting candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The meeting is scheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m., following the release of the first list of 48 candidates on October 24.

Notable nominees include state unit Chief Nana Patole from Sakoli, Praful Vinodrao Gudadhe from Nagpur South West, and Balasaheb Thorat from Sangamner. Other candidates include Kunal Rohidas Patil from Dhule rural and Rajesh Panditrao Ekade from Malkapur. Confirmed candidates also feature Sunil Deshmukh from Amaravati and Advocate Yashomati Chandrakant Thakur from Teosa.

Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole announced on Thursday that an agreement has been reached in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance on seat-sharing. Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will each contest 85 seats, with the seat allocations revealed for 255 constituencies. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) released its first list of 65 candidates, including Aaditya Thackeray from the Worli assembly constituency. Nomination processes for the 288 assembly seats are underway, with polling occurring on November 20 and results to be announced on November 23.
