As Cyclone Dana approaches, set to make landfall at midnight on October 24-25, the East Coast Railway has proactively adjusted its operations to prioritize public safety. A total of 203 trains have been diverted, short-terminated, or canceled to mitigate risks. General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal conveyed that the railway is fully prepared to handle the cyclone's impact.
The East Coast Railway has stationed Emergency Response Teams and activated 'War rooms' to ensure maximum readiness. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has instructed the team to minimize the impact on passenger services while focusing on passenger safety. Emphasis is being placed on the Bhubaneswar to Bhadrak and Paradeep sections.
In Andhra Pradesh, fishermen have been cautioned against venturing into the sea due to adverse conditions near Vishakhapatnam. Reports of rough seas also emerged from West Bengal's Digha Beach. Odisha's CM Mohan Charan Majhi stressed efforts aimed at zero casualties, evacuating over 3 lakh people and preparing over 7,000 shelters.
