In the latest development from Bengaluru, fire department officials have commenced restoration work at the site where a building tragically collapsed in the Huramavu Agara area. The catastrophic incident, which occurred on Tuesday, resulted in the loss of eight lives.

Heavy machinery has been deployed to manage the rubble and remove concrete from the scene of the under-construction site. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences, announcing an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured.

The Prime Minister's Office expressed deep sorrow on social media, stating: "Anguished by the loss of lives... My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones." Meanwhile, Bengaluru's Additional Commissioner Satish Kumar has identified the unfortunate victims and those injured, who are being treated at local hospitals.

Karnataka's deputy chief minister, DK Shivakumar, has vowed to tackle the illegal activities reportedly associated with the incident, promising strict action against those responsible, including the owner, contractor, and officials involved. Police have registered an FIR naming three accused: Munirajareddy, Mohan Reddy, and Elumalai, related to the disaster.

The son of one accused, Bhuvan Reddy, and the contractor Muniyappa, tasked with constructing the building's four floors, have been arrested. They face serious charges under the relevant legal sections governing building safety and construction regulations.
