In a significant breakthrough, Shimla Police have successfully dismantled yet another drug peddling gang, detaining two youths as part of their ongoing crackdown against the illicit drug trade. Authorities believe these arrests are steps toward ending organized drug peddling in the region.

Superintendent Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi detailed the persistent challenges posed by drug trafficking in Shimla and highlighted the police's dedicated efforts to combat the menace. "The issue of drug peddling is a growing concern. Shimla Police is fully committed to addressing this challenge, as individuals from various backgrounds fall victim to drug abuse," said Gandhi.

Gandhi elaborated on the proactive measures undertaken by the police, which include targeted operations and grassroots initiatives. "Our recent operation is part of a broader strategy to dismantle drug syndicates through an integrated intelligence network. The Social Integrated Intelligence Network System, which incorporates school, college students, and Mahila Mandals, has been crucial in our efforts," explained Gandhi.

The superintendent further noted the collaboration with the Task Force and local stakeholders to monitor suspicious activities. The Tuesday operation revealed a syndicate known as the Ranjan Gang, linked to 15 to 30 youths, leading to further arrests. "Investigations are ongoing, with more arrests anticipated," Gandhi stated.

Shimla Police have also focused on disrupting the financial infrastructure of the drug trade by identifying and freezing assets worth crores, earned through illegal means. "By targeting the economic incentives, we aim to dismantle the drug business," Gandhi asserted.

Gandhi also emphasized a cooperative approach across North Indian states to tackle the issue, following a high-level meeting with regional officials. "An inter-state collaboration is crucial to combat drug trafficking effectively," he mentioned.

Gandhi concluded by expressing optimism for successful outcomes: "Community support and inter-state efforts should yield positive results, bringing hope for a drug-free Shimla."
