Tragedy Strikes: Under-Construction Building Collapse in Bengaluru Amidst Heavy Rain
Five people lost their lives and five were injured after an under-construction building in Bengaluru collapsed during heavy rainfall. Thirteen individuals were rescued while several remain trapped. Rescue teams work tirelessly as efforts to clear debris continue in the Horamavu Agara area of the city.

An under-construction building in the eastern Bengaluru neighborhood of Horamavu Agara has collapsed during heavy rains, resulting in the tragic deaths of five people. The victims, identified as Harman (26), Tripal (35), Mohd Sahil (19), Sathya Raju (25), and Shankar, were recovered from the rubble, according to Bengaluru police sources.
Five individuals sustained injuries in the collapse and are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals. Those injured include Jagadevi (45), Rasheed (28), Nagaraju (25), Ramesh Kumar (28), Harman (22), and Ayaj. While rescue operations have successfully saved thirteen people, several others are feared to still be trapped beneath the debris.
The incident prompted immediate action from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), whose teams are on-site conducting search and rescue operations. Vakeel Pasawn, a labourer who jumped from the building during the incident, recounted, "Out of the four of us, three managed to escape, but the fourth one got stuck. I was working on the sixth floor."
Director General of Fire Services, Prashant Kumar Thakur, emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that rescue teams are actively working to locate and extricate those trapped, and are awaiting professional equipment to remove the debris safely. Initial assessments have identified five people presumed trapped.
The situation remains tense as fire and police units continue to clear the area. An investigation will follow to determine the full extent of casualties. The collapse occurred when 20 individuals were inside the building, officials confirmed.
