The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) has announced a collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority to implement a 450-500 MW solar park along the Bundelkhand Expressway. This groundbreaking initiative, the first in India, aims to create a sustainable energy corridor along the 296-km road.
An extensive feasibility study revealed significant potential, with plans to install up to 450 MW of solar power across both sides of the expressway. The project also promises cost-efficient electricity generation, requiring an investment of around Rs 1,800 crore.
The Uttar Pradesh Infrastructure Development Authority has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP), inviting global bids for the solar park, which will operate under a Build-Own-Operate model. The venture emphasizes long-term economic and environmental sustainability, with a project tenure of up to 25 years.
