  • India

Union Minister Jitendra Singh emphasized on Monday that cleanliness should be regarded as an ongoing collective commitment rather than a fleeting effort.

At an event held at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Singh highlighted that the Swachhata Hi Sewa is not a mere campaign but a significant national movement echoing the ethos of Mahatma Gandhi's ideals on cleanliness and dignity. Joined by senior officials including P K Mishra and other advisors, Singh led the charge in endorsing the Swachh Bharat Mission, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a clean India.

The campaign, Singh noted, transcends mere physical tidiness, urging a mindset shift toward accountability for one's environment, promoting a healthier, sustainable future. The initiative, which commemorates Gandhi's birth anniversary, has seen substantial milestones, including the clearance of 63.48 lakh square feet of space and revenue generation through scrap disposal, underscoring its national importance in community building and collective action.
