In a nod to tradition, leading Indian stock exchanges BSE and NSE are set to hold a special 'Muhurat Trading' session to mark Diwali on November 1. This session signifies the onset of Samvat 2081, the new Hindu calendar year.

Scheduled between 6 pm and 7 pm, the trading window is celebrated for its auspicious character, aiming to bring prosperity in the coming year. This unique session allows transactions across segments such as equity, commodity derivatives, and currency derivatives.

While markets generally remain closed during Diwali, this hour-long opening is primarily symbolic. Analysts highlight that market volatility is common during this session, focusing more on tradition than on immediate profitability.
