Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has raised questions about the residence of the party's national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, criticizing its opulence while a significant portion of Delhi's population resides in slums. Maliwal highlighted the incongruity of a leader living lavishly, despite previously condemning similar expenditure on official residences.
The luxurious amenities of Kejriwal's residence, including remote-controlled curtains worth Rs5.6 crore, have come under scrutiny. Earlier this month, Maliwal also rebuked AAP following a dismal performance in the Haryana assembly elections, accusing Kejriwal of attempting to undermine Congress by fielding candidates against them.
Maliwal's criticisms extended to accusations of betrayal within the INDIA bloc, alleging Kejriwal's involvement in vote-splitting. She implored the party to abandon its perceived 'ego' and focus on genuine public service. Maliwal emphasized the urgency of returning to the party's founding principles before losing further electoral ground.
