The Indian Coast Guard has ushered in a new era of leadership with the appointment of Additional Director General S Paramesh as the force's new chief. Paramesh is set to officially take on the role on October 15, following the untimely passing of his predecessor, DG Rakesh Pal, last month.
Having served the organization with distinction across a career spanning over three decades, Paramesh has stepped up as acting Director General since Pal's demise. His extensive service record boasts a series of commendable appointments both ashore and afloat, showcasing his expert navigation and direction capabilities.
An alumnus of the National Defence College and the Defence Services Staff College, Paramesh has commanded major vessels such as the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel Samar. He has held key staff roles, including Deputy Director General of Operations and Coastal Security, demonstrating his strategic acumen, earning multiple prestigious commendations over the years.
