On Friday, U.S. stock indexes exhibited a mixed performance at the opening bell. Traders maintained their predictions for a 25-basis-point interest rate reduction by the Federal Reserve in November, following the release of producer price data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average contributed to the optimism by rising 53.4 points, marking a 0.13% increase to start the trading day at 42,507.53.

However, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite faced downward pressure. The S&P 500 fell 5.0 points or 0.09% to 5,775.09, while the Nasdaq dropped 64.3 points or 0.35% to open at 18,217.734, impacted by a decline in Tesla shares.
