In the wake of a massive drug seizure worth Rs 1,814 crores in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Jitu Patwari has demanded the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda. Patwari alleged that individuals associated with Devda are linked to the drug network, suggesting a failure of governance in Madhya Pradesh.
Patwari further asserted that a sting operation exposed the rampant availability of drugs across the state, likening the scenario to the drug crisis depicted in 'Udta Punjab.' He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take decisive action against Devda to demonstrate a stance against drugs.
Deputy Chief Minister Devda countered the allegations, stating a photograph with an accused does not imply collaboration or endorsement. He defended the integrity of public figures while endorsing stringent measures against drug activities. The controversy follows the arrest of individuals in connection with the drug bust by the Gujarat ATS.
