Delhi Cop Arrested for Bribery in Vasant Kunj Construction Case

A Delhi police officer stationed at Vasant Kunj (South) police station has been arrested for soliciting a bribe amounting to Rs 50,000 and accepting a portion of it, authorities reported on Thursday. The arrest was executed by the Vigilance Unit following complaints about bribe demands related to civil construction activities in Rangpuri Pahadi.

The Vigilance Unit verified the complaint through a discreet inquiry, revealing the legitimacy of the complaint. Consequently, a task force, led by ACP Vigilance and supervised by DCP Vigilance Anyesh Roy, along with strategic guidance from IPS Additional Commissioner Aslam Khan, was assembled.

In collaboration with the complainant, the team orchestrated a trap with the assistance of a public witness. Police personnel, Constable Amit, was caught red-handed accepting a bribe during a pre-arranged exchange. He has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and related legal codes at the Vigilance Police Station. The accused constable has appeared at the Special Court in Rouse Avenue and is currently held in judicial custody.
