Sengupta's appointment follows the resignation of Bandhan Bank's founder MD and CEO, Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, on July 9. In the interim, Ratan Kesh has been serving as the acting MD and CEO. Sengupta, who retired from Indian Overseas Bank, carries over four decades of banking experience.
Bandhan Bank, the first microfinance institution in the eastern region to transition into a universal bank in 2015, continues to expand its services nationwide. It further solidified its position through strategic acquisitions and a successful stock market listing in 2018.
