The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out comprehensive search operations in the residence of Faizul Rahman in Chennai, key accused in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir anti-India conspiracy. The raids led to the confiscation of numerous incriminating items, such as digital devices and documents.
Arrested on Tuesday, Rahman was reportedly in active contact with co-accused individuals, promoting secessionism and soliciting military assistance from Pakistan with the ambition to liberate Kashmir. The conspiracy intended to establish an Islamic rule through insurgency by toppling the Indian government, entailing clandestine meetings to disseminate Hizb-ut-Tahrir's divisive ideologies.
Further probes are underway under the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The Central government labeled Hizb-Ut-Tahrir a terrorist organization for endorsing terrorism via social media, as declared in a gazette notification, highlighting its global ambition to establish a Caliphate by dismantling democratic institutions.
