The Tata group of airlines, comprising Air India, Air India Express, and Vistara, commemorated Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, with an in-flight announcement on Thursday. This heartfelt tribute was shared across all flights, resonating with passengers and crew alike.

Ratan Tata, 86, passed away on Wednesday night at a Mumbai hospital. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson conveyed the news with profound sadness to employees, highlighting Tata's pivotal role in Indian aviation and the airline's evolution. He extended condolences to the Tata family and all touched by his passing.

Passengers shared videos of the announcements on social media, echoing a chorus of tributes from leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gujarat and Maharashtra governments have declared a day of mourning, with flags at half-mast and the suspension of governmental cultural events.

Born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, Ratan Tata served as the Chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012 and later as Chairman Emeritus. He was also at the helm of major philanthropic trusts and was honored with the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
