The nation is in mourning after the death of iconic industrialist Ratan Tata, aged 86, who passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge praised Tata's impactful career, noting his innovative spirit and emphasis on human values rather than wealth accumulation.

The Maharashtra Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has urged the central government to bestow Tata with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, posthumously. The Cabinet passed a resolution commemorating his legacy, declaring a state-wide day of mourning and arranging for public tributes.

Figures nationwide, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have expressed sorrow over Tata's passing. Shah lauded Tata's transformative leadership within the Tata Group. Ratan Tata was highly respected, receiving honors like the Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to business and philanthropy.
