Anil Kumar Gupta has taken on a pivotal role as Member (Planning) at the Airports Authority of India (AAI), as announced in a recent press release. In this capacity, Gupta will spearhead strategic initiatives for the development and modernization of Greenfield and Brownfield airports to enhance India's airport infrastructure.
Bringing extensive experience to the position, Gupta has served in various leading roles within the civil aviation sector, including Executive Director of Land Management & Business Development and Executive Director under the Regional Connectivity Scheme. His appointment to the Multi Modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) board underscores his expertise. With a civil engineering background spanning 35 years, Gupta has driven numerous infrastructure initiatives, notably modernizing the airports in Kolkata and Jaipur.
As the founding head of AAI's Business Development Unit, Gupta led the expansion into international markets and implemented innovative projects such as the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) system. His leadership in managing AAI's lands nationwide and establishing efficient systems for lease administration has been instrumental. Additionally, his contributions extend to the development of policies under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, aimed at bolstering the aviation sector's capabilities.
In his role under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, Gupta has been pivotal in the RCS-UDAN initiative, promoting affordable air connectivity to underserved regions and potential water aerodromes, aligning with the Ministry of Civil Aviation's goals.
