Hungary's Gas Confidence Amid Transit Changes
The expiration of the gas transit deal between Ukraine and Russia is not a concern for Hungary, which plans to receive gas through Turkstream, according to Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto. Turkstream may also benefit other European nations, as the current agreement concludes by year's end.
The expiration of the gas transit agreement between Ukraine and Russia is not a concern for Hungary, according to Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto. Speaking on Thursday, Szijjarto stated that Hungary would secure its gas supply through the Turkstream pipeline.
Szijjarto's comments were made during an energy conference in Russia, where he highlighted the potential of Turkstream to assist other European countries in securing their gas supplies.
The current transit deal, which allows Russian gas to flow across Ukraine to central European countries, is set to expire at the end of the year, prompting Hungary to seek alternative supply routes.
