Guyana's Gas-to-Energy Project Reaches Major Milestone with Exxon Mobil
Guyana's 'Gas-to-Energy' project has successfully connected its pipeline to two of Exxon's floating production platforms. This initiative aims to supply a power plant and a natural gas liquids facility. Production was paused for the connection, and testing is underway to ensure functionality.
A significant milestone has been achieved in Guyana's 'Gas-to-Energy' project as the gas pipeline has been successfully linked to two floating production platforms managed by an Exxon Mobil-led consortium. This connection will allow the nation to harness natural gas for substantial energy development.
The project, set forth by Guyana's government, seeks to power a 300-megawatt facility and a natural gas liquids plant using gas from Exxon's Stabroek block. This marks the first utilization of associated gas produced domestically, signaling a new era of energy independence and economic growth for Guyana.
The temporary halt of crude and gas output for the connection in the third quarter allowed the completion of this critical infrastructure. Exxon Guyana head Alistar Routledge confirmed that risers are now connected, and rigorous testing is being conducted to ensure optimal operation, according to Newsroom Guyana reports.
