The finance ministry revealed a significant surge in the filing of audit reports for the assessment year 2024-25, with over 34.84 lakh submissions recorded by October 7. This includes approximately 34.09 lakh Tax Audit Reports (TARs), showing a 4.8% increase from last year's filings by the due date.

The income tax department had extended the deadline from September 30 to October 7, facilitating this uptick. To assist taxpayers, the department embarked on comprehensive outreach programmes using emails, SMSs, webinars, and social media campaigns, ensuring compliance and awareness about filing requirements.

Efforts by the e-filing Helpdesk team, which addressed around 1.23 lakh queries, proved crucial. Support was rendered through various channels, including phone calls, live chats, and online sessions, ensuring smooth and timely submissions of audit forms.
