Odisha's Subhadra Yojana Empowering 60 Lakh Women

In a groundbreaking move, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has disbursed Rs 1,750 crore to more than 35 lakh women as part of the state's flagship initiative, Subhadra Yojana. The scheme, aimed at empowering women financially, has seen enthusiastic participation since its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17.
The Subhadra Yojana, a prominent feature of the BJP's election manifesto, stipulates annual financial aid of Rs 10,000 for each beneficiary. This amount is distributed in two instalments every year, during Rakhi Purnima and International Women's Day, ensuring annual support to women across the state.
With an ambitious target of reaching out to 1.20 crore women, the initiative marks a significant investment in women's economic independence. The state government has allocated an impressive budget of Rs 55,825 crore, with the scheme set to be implemented over the financial years of 2024 to 2029.
